NYC Marathon Training

I woke up today with a serious reality check. The NYC Marathon is less than 2 months away and today I feel NERVOUS! I don’t know what brought this on…maybe it was the message I received from a friend last night that wants to come cheer me on in the race (which I am super excited about!) or the fact that I decided to read some race recaps from people that ran the race last year or the combination…but today this race feels REAL!! I AM SERIOUSLY RUNNING THE NYC MARATHON ON NOVEMBER 2ND!!!!

This morning I felt real anxiety about this race. I was totally second guessing everything that I have been doing to prepare. I felt like my training hasn’t been good enough, my nutrition is not on point, I have hardly done any hill training, and very little speed training. I felt scared…This is a once in lifetime opportunity race and I have a lot of people watching me. I know that I can finish the 26.2 miles, but I want to be able to enjoy the race. I don’t want to be struggling the entire time and not enjoy the experience.

As the day goes on I am reminded that God is in control of this situation. He blessed me with the opportunity to run the race and I am going to put my full trust in Him to get me to the finish line. Sometimes we get so caught in our day to day that we forget the God wants to guide you in every part of your life, including fitness, running, nutrition, races, diets, and exercise. God didn’t bring me this far to leave me. His promises are true and I know that I can do all things through Him. I will be speaking His promises over myself and my sister as we continue to prepare and train for the biggest race of our lives on Nov 2.

I still have to do my part in preparing for this race and that means no more excuses! I am committing to stepping up my training and truly giving it my all. I do not want to look back and regret not doing something. I need your help with this!! Feel free to ask me what I am doing and hold me accountable to training. Also, please be in prayer for me and my sister as we train and prepare to take on 26.2 miles through New York City.

I’M IN! NYC Marathon 2014!!

In March 2012 I decided to start running and my big goal was to run the NYC Marathon. I started off strong and dedicated myself to sharing my journey with you through FB and my blog. I didn’t realize at the time how hard it was to train and actually run a full marathon (26.2 miles). I also didn’t realize that in order to run the NYC Marathon that you either had to be a super fast runner or be picked out of several 100,000 people that were in the drawing to run the same race.

Fast forward 2 years and I am now days away from running my very 1st marathon in Lafayette, La and I have been thinking very hard about taking a break from running after the race this weekend. BUT I believe that God has other plans for me…I was just picked to run the NYC MARATHON 2014!! I am so excited and shocked at the same time!! November 2, 2014 will be EPIC!!
I can’t wait to share this journey with you all!

I WILL BE A 2014 NYC MARATHONER!!!
